Our Story
Who is Madelynn?
Well quite simply Madelynn’s is a combination of two strong willed women in my life. The first was my mother - Madeline. Mum was refined, elegant and above all, she knew exactly what she liked and what she didn’t. She could turn her hand to any craft and growing up I was often greeted in the morning to a new dress hanging neatly on the picture rail or a new cardigan neatly folded on the chair. I gained my love of crafts and arts from her.
Growing up there were always flowers in the house whether it was the dahlias or chrysanthemums my dad lovingly grew in the garden, or a simple hand picked bunch of daisies or buttercups one of the grandchildren had brought her, she never once went a day without flowers.
The second woman was Lynn. Lynn was my mother-in-law, again a lady who was strong willed. After traveling the world with her husband and family, they settled back in Chesterfield and put down their roots. Lynn loved gardening and she ingrained a love for that in my husband from a small age. Although Lynn loved her garden the plants did have to be on guard as she was well known for whipping them out of a spot and replanting them somewhere else, they never could get too comfy in one place.
Lynn encouraged my love of flower arranging from the start and never had a doubt when I announced that I was going to do all the flowers for our wedding myself., in fact she encouraged it.
Both of these women are missed very much, but their memories are always close either in our own garden or whilst I am arranging the flowers.
Who am I?
Welcome to my website. My name is Jo, I am a mum of 2 and step mum to 1. I live in Chesterfield and I originate from Sheffield. I started my working life in the RAF before leaving and continuing my career within the University of Sheffield.
I have trained at a number of institutions including the Joseph Massie UK Floristry School in Liverpool. Joseph is a 5 times Chelsea gold medallist and he runs a range of courses covering all aspects of floral art along with a thriving wedding and event business.
